This is a question we are asked regularly and the answer is yes, the current versions of genuine Weber carburetors made in Spain are 100% Ethanol tolerant.

However, be careful because Ethanol is a hygroscopic substance and therefore retains moisture from the air, and this moisture can cause oxidation/corrosion in a carburetor if it is left idle for a prolonged period.

Here is an example of a photo of the jets and emulsion tube of a Weber 32/34DMTL that was left idle for 6 months and which, unsurprisingly, would no longer idle when restarted!!!

Note the residue left when the ethanol evaporates, allowing moisture to do its damage.

If your vehicle/carburetor is used regularly, this kind of problem should not happen to you, but if you plan to store your car for a long period, it is not a bad idea to completely empty your carburetors to avoid this corrosion.

Old or new Weber, is there a difference?

All Weber carburetors manufactured after 2005 are ethanol tolerant (they are tested with 100% pure ethanol) and for those manufactured before 2005, only the gaskets and diaphragms will need to be changed with one of our rebuild kits and you will be OK to get back on the road.
