Fitted to the Cortina MK3/4/5 - Taunus 1300 and 1600, it can also be found on some Escort MK1 and MK2 and should not be confused with the Atlas axle.

The "Koln" axle resembles the Atlas axle but is smaller and does not use the same bearings or seals.

To tell them apart, simply take a good look at the rear plate of the bridge.

On the Atlas axle, the bolts are located at equal distances around the axle, while on the Koln axle, the two bolts at the top right are closer together, as are the two bolts at the bottom right.
